Anthropic's Claude Opus 5.5 announcement of September 22, 2026 says subscription users are getting a rate limit reset that they can save and use whenever they choose.

A reset is used from Settings > Usage on the web or in Claude Desktop with "Reset for free". Depending on the reset offered, it returns either the five-hour session limit or the weekly limit to full. It cannot be undone, it does not move the usual weekly reset time, and an unused reset expires at the time shown on the offer.

The button is not offered in the Claude mobile apps or in Claude Code, but limits are shared across the account, so a reset used on the web also applies there.

The announcement gives no expiry date and names no plans. Only the offer shown in your own Claude Usage says whether you have this reset and when it expires.
